A little F.Y.I. on research happenings: Work to create anti-anxiety and anti-depressant drugs that block effects of corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH) - involved in the chemical effects our 'fight-or-flight' response - has led to growing understanding that mood disorders are not a result of simple chemical imbalance.* (Ya, and you're not surprised by the news.)
The relationship of the numerous neurotransmitters is much more complex and scientists have not understood it well enough yet. They found that by limiting the amount of (a) hormone to block the neuron that produces anxiety ALSO blocked the neuron that prevents anxiety. Whoa! Curve-ball effect!
